Position Overview
We need a Senior Manager of Human Resources to provide full-service HR support to Calbright employees throughout the State for which we serve. The Senior Manager of HR will be involved in shaping and implementation of all stages of the employee experience from recruitment and onboarding to employee engagement and status changes.

The Senior Manager of HR will work closely with the Executive Director, HR and Employer/Employee Relations in the HR strategic and functional areas of recruitment, sourcing, screening, interview processes, benefits administration and compensation, leave of absence administration, payroll, performance evaluation. and employee relations. This position will promote engagement and teamwork by jumping in where needed without hesitation. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the role and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed within the scope of work.

  • Drive accurate delivery of day-to-day Human Resources operations including recruiting, onboarding, compensation changes, offboarding, and many more.
  • Lead full cycle recruitment for exempt and nonexempt staff utilizing a variety of strategic recruitment sources to identify qualified candidates. Recruitment activities include: kick off meetings with hiring managers, sourcing candidates using an applicant tracking system in scheduling and conducting interviews, administering applicable skills tests, providing detailed feedback narratives from interviews, creating offer letters, conducting background checks, and ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and all relevant employment/labor laws.
  • Manage and supervise HR Specialist personnel and oversee performance development for this position.
  • Facilitate compliance related activities such as annual EEO-1, OSHA, and ACA reporting.
  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations
  • Conduct exit interviews and recommend corrective action when necessary
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position

    abilities is mandatory for success in this role.\
  • Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability,and sexual orientation of community college students, staff and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience as an HR Manager with broad functional experience

Working Conditions and Travel

  • Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Calbright College has administrative offices in Sacramento available for use. When working remotely, employees should be able and willing to use digital communication tools as used by the college, and have the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

  • Requires the ability to function in a remote online instructional environment performing work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to use hearing and speech to make presentations to groups and carry on conversations over the phone and in-person. Requires speaking skills to communicate with staff and students in one-on-one and small group settings, on the phone, and to distinguish sound prompts from various types of equipment. Requires near visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens. Requires sufficient hand/arm/finger dexterity to retrieve work materials, operate a personal computer keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is performed indoors where minimal safety considerations exist.
