Calbright CEO Ajita Talwalker Menon Joins ACE2022 Closing Plenary

Ajita Talwalker Menon, Calbright’s President and CEO, joined the closing plenary at ACE2022, the American Council on Education’s annual gathering of leaders in higher education. Alongside her were Eloy Ortiz Oakley, Chancellor of the California Community Colleges system, Scott D. Pulsipher, President of Western Governors University, and moderator Mary A. Papazian, former President at San José State University. Together the panel discussed the opportunities and challenges facing learning organizations in the wake of the global shift toward online and hybrid learning.

In the clip below, Menon points out that the seemingly unprecedented decline in college enrollment seen during the pandemic-induced economic fallout is the first such countercyclical relationship in recent memory, and speaks to an underlying design issue. Learning institutions will need to develop innovative models of education in order to reduce the opportunity costs for would-be students and employees. Developing models of education that help educators meet adult learners where they are is a central tenet of Calbright’s mission. Watch the video below:
