Companies and organizations are built around data-informed decision making, and the ability to organize, interpret, and act on data has become an essential skill set for professionals in virtually every industry and in both the public and private sectors. Calbright’s Data Analysis program will help you understand data types and sources, organize complex data using spreadsheets and Structured Query Language (SQL) databases, and use visualization and storytelling to inform and guide business strategy.

This program is designed with wraparound support to help you complete the program within six months or fewer (with an expectation of at least four hours per week dedicated to the program learning modules). You'll benefit from:

  • Recommended weekly webinars offered by faculty and staff (BUS 500)
  • Required weekly meetings with an industry expert mentor (BUS 501)
  • Engagement and support from faculty, including virtual office hours, emails, phone calls, and text messages

Calbright programs are designed to reflect labor market insights and the needs of fast-growing sectors, and are built in collaboration with employers. Courses are flexibly paced to fit into your busy schedule.

BUS 500 | 4-6 Weeks

Introduction to Structured Data

This introductory course establishes a baseline understanding of terminology used in data analysis, how data is generated, and how to organize and visualize data using spreadsheets and Structured Query Language (SQL). You’ll begin preparing for the workplace by learning effective presentation and data storytelling techniques.

BUS 501 | 8-10 Weeks

Application of Structured Data

This course is a hands-on experience where you’ll apply your knowledge, skills, and abilities to a real-world data project. This will include the manipulation of data using SQL to tell a story and give you the opportunity to present the interpretation of your data findings.

Tuition-Free Programs

Our online community college is currently tuition free for residents of California, over the age of 18, with a high school diploma or GED.

Certificate in Less Than One Year

We measure progress by the skills you’ve mastered — not by how many hours you’ve spent in the classroom — so you can move at the speed that’s right for you. Students can complete this course in approximately four months with an average weekly commitment of less than five hours. You will receive a badge verifying completion so you can advertise your new skills on your LinkedIn page and prove your competency to prospective employers.
