Christie Akins is the Director of Program Pathways, Information Technology at Calbright College. Her experience is in IT, EdTech, curriculum design and virtualization, academics and education management. She’s had an extensive career in technology. Her early work was with Honeywell, GTE, Circuit City, and Medallion Financial NY. Most recently she has worked in K-12 as a leader and advisor of online learning, virtual schools, and CTE pathways. She has developed partnerships with Apple, Promethean, Apex Learning and Edmentum.
Christie has a Masters in Educational Technology Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with a concentration in Information Technology and Systems Engineering. She is currently looking to obtain a Master of Information in Cybersecurity from UC Berkeley. She has two young adult children and resides in the AnaVerde Hills with her wife and life partner of 17 years, Michelle.
Christie Akins has worked the past 15 years to effectively integrate technology into businesses, classrooms, schools, districts, and Education Management Organizations. She has successfully developed approved school charters, built virtual high schools, hybrid solutions and Distance Learning schools. Christie has created online programs and personalized solutions, digitized businesses, implemented one-to-one programs, developed apps and served over 30,000 learners across the US.
Christie Akins has led teams to successful outcomes that have been recognized by Harvard University and state education institutions. She has effectively served non profits all over America including DC, North Carolina, California, New York and Texas. Christie is known for her ability to bring innovation and 21st Century strategies into an organization, and engineer 360-degree tactics for increasing value and targeting audiences.
