Hannah Hankins currently serves as Communications Director to the Second Gentleman-Designate on the Biden-Harris Transition Team, a role she also played on the Biden for President campaign.
Hankins previously served as Acting Chief of Staff after serving as Deputy Chief of Staff in Amy Klobuchar’s Senate office managing a team of more than 60 operations, communications, policy and outreach staff in Washington D.C. and Minnesota and served as a senior advisor on the Amy for America campaign. After the close of the Obama-Biden Administration, Hannah managed communications and engagement campaigns for advocacy initiatives launched by the White House as well as Mrs. Obama’s Becoming book tour, mission-aligned non-profits, and foundations.
Hankins also worked as Vice President of Civic Advisors, providing strategic communications and outreach management for advocacy initiatives, and mission-aligned non-profits and foundations. She also directed external affairs and supported brand-building for the BAAR Center, a nascent evidence-based education start-up, through earned media outreach, collaborative partnerships, and strategic network engagement.
Hankins served for more than five years in the Obama White House Communications Department, including as the Communications Director and Senior Policy Advisor for the Domestic Policy Council. In this role, she planned high-profile Administration announcements to achieve strategic communications priorities and managed crisis response on issues including education, labor, public health, and criminal justice. Before this, she served as a press wrangler, facilitating media coverage opportunities and managing relations between the White House and the national press corps.
